This is the Top 10 indie rappers in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia as voted on by DJs, Radio Personalities, Promoters, and just overall Tastemakers (absolutely No Artists!!!!). First before I unveil this list is I didn't even create a list, so the way these named were chose was that the contributors (listed at the bottom) submit a list of their favorite artist based on lyrics, song quality, grind and star appeal. The 10 names that were voted on the most are the names that you see below. I did state as well that I will be releasing the Elite 5, which I will still be doing but for everyone to fully see how diplomatic this process was, I have something special planned for that. Producer/Emcee Amiri Set to Release Debut Solo LP on HiPNOTT Records

PRODUCER/EMCEE AMIRI SET TO RELEASE DEBUT SOLO LP, THE RECIPE, SEPTEMBER 28th ON HiPNOTT RECORDS
Following up the release of this year’s album Almost Famous with partner in rhyme Spectac, Amiri comes out from behind the boards to release his first solo effort The Recipe. Comprised of 16 tracks featuring Amiri’s signature boom bap soulful sound, The Recipe is 100% Amiri on production and on the mic. Songs like “Music”, “Boom Bap” and “Like They Used Ta!” will have Hip Hop fans wishing it were 1994 again. With influences such as DJ Premier, Pete Rock, DITC, Marley Marl and Large Professor, Amiri has got The Recipe to give hip hop fans what they’re craving.

Not that it's missing, but Amiri wants appreciation when it comes to skills in the art of Hip Hop. Born and raised in South Carolina, Amiri was introduced to Hip Hop during his childhood through the sounds of Hip Hop pioneers like T La Rock, Kurtis Blow, and Run DMC. "Growing up, anything with rap music involved, I wanted to be a part of it". Crafting his skills as an MC was how it began, but Amiri realized behind the boards was his true gift.
For those that think Amiri is new to the game are wrong. In 1996 Amiri produced the remix to Mista's top ten single "Blackberry Molasses". Since then, Amiri has sharpened his skills and worked with many underground emcees such as Spectac, Blame One, Rubix from Mass Influence, Makeba Mooncycle and last but not least, A Tribe Called Quest on their reunion single “I C U (Doin It)” featuring Erykah Badu.
Look out for the first single, "Boom Bap" to be released in the coming weeks. For a taste of Amiri behind the boards, check out his two latest singles ("The Mass Effect" and "As If") from Almost Famous.
The Recipe will be release on HiPNOTT Records on September 28th digitally at iTunes and Amazon. Physical CDs, as well as a limited edition flash drive, will also be sold through hipnottrecords.com.
