Throughout the beginning of writing Marvelous World Of Color, I was really frustrated with Hip Hop. Both as an artist and a fan of the culture I was, and still am to a degree, feeling like maybe my time with Hip Hop was coming to an end. Most people don't have any idea what we go through as artists continuously being "on the verge" of achieving the dream of being able to make a living wage off of what we do. When Rodney first gave me the beat for "Go" I was looking for a way to vent and find some direction in my uncertain future and this beat was the perfect platform for that. Marvelous World Of Color drops August 11th, 2010.

which features a who's who of Australia's hip-hop scene, we're pleased to present you with this promotional video shot during his release party in Melbourne, Australia. Shot using four high definition cameras, this video takes you everywhere from backstage to the front row, showcasing several of the evening's marquis performances. The remainder of 2010 is going to be a big year the Gold Coast beat-smith, who's production will be featured on Pharoahe Monch's upcoming W.A.R. ProbCause - Spring Cleaning (Mixtape)

"Spring Cleaning" is a project originally titled "Once A Week" in which I wrote and recorded a new song, every week, for 10 weeks. I began doing this partially for myself, as an exercise in my craft- but also as a way to create an assortment of songs that experimented with genres outside the lines of traditional hip-hop. After the 10 weeks, I sat down with my DJ/Brother (DJ Grimmace) to select the best songs from "Once a Week," and combine them with the best and most original songs from my catalog of unreleased material. This was the idea behind the title "Spring Cleaning." I felt like I was cleaning out my closet during the process of piecing together this album- paring the gems from my back stock of music with my favorite songs from the new slew of tracks. I incorporated production from an expansive list of producers (both commercial and original) to create a quasi-mixtape that encompasses a wide range of styles and genres. This unique combination of music paints the picture of a 23 year old Chicago artist and rapper trying to avoid a 9-5 in a shitty economy- and maintain creativity within a struggling scene."

This song summarizes the central theme of Marvelous World Of Color. For a number of years now I've studied the media and their influence on western society. It's a really scary thing when you disconnect from the program, step back and really see what's going on. You start to notice how the media manipulates and uses people like puppets in order to distract the general public from the real issues at hand. What’s good everybody, this is Shod Harris with Mic Fiend Music/ Promotions; I haven’t wrote a blog in the past couple of months. I been dealing with some everyday life stuff and been spending my nights tornado slapping people (literally lol) but now since that is out the way it’s time for me to get back to what I do best, and that’s to give some insight on some stuff in the industry that I feel is effed up in this music industry. There has been something that has been bothering me over the past couple of months that I have seen a lot of local and indie artists have been doing. I have noticed that a lot of these artists when they are making songs they are making songs from the point of view of a rapper. If you sit back and listen to some projects from some of your favorite local artists you might realize this too.

For awhile I was wondering why certain artist’s music wasn’t connecting with regular people and also why their fan base wasn’t growing, then as I started listening to more music from those artists I realized that I really couldn’t connect to the music that they were putting out. Instead of rapping about things from the point of view of a grown man or woman they would be rapping about as if everything in their world revolved around rapping (if that’s true then that’s very sad). I’m not a rapper, so I couldn’t relate to other people “hating” on my rap skills, or even being the hottest rapper lyrically or any of that stuff that rappers deal with. As a consumer I’m not going to buy music from an artist that I can’t relate to in some form or fashion. I thought this was probably just a problem that the artists from where I’m from are dealing with but when listening to a mixtape recently from an artist in another market I realized this was an epidemic everywhere. I think this is a major problem when trying to grow your fan base and connecting with people with your music.

I noticed that it is usually the artists that don’t live the so-called “drug dealer” lifestyle are the ones that rap about “rapper shit.” There is a very simple solution to this problem, Rap about Real Life Stuff. Bam!!!! That’s easy enough isn’t it?! Ok I’m going to stop my sarcastic ways but really there are so many emotions and scenarios that people deal with on a regular basis that a lot of rappers don’t even touch, such as relationships, the opposite sex, working a 9 to 5. Different concepts will make your music more relatable to the general public and in the end that will get you more fans. If you think about it some of your favorite rappers who have solid fan bases hardly ever rhyme about how good they are as a rapper because they got too much other real life issues that they can rap about. Joe Budden and Eminem usually rap about some of those crazy emotions that they deal with. In reality the music that you create should be able to connect with people’s emotions and a certain feeling. That will lead them to listen to your music. If you can’t do that with your music then you should probably find another occupation, hobby, or whatever your point for rapping is.

UF: For the people who don't know who you are, tell the people your name and where you from?

Artist name is WHY-IT i am from Delaware!!

UF: How did you get started in music?
Something i started doing for fun one day playing around and everyone thought i was good so i decided to take it to the next level!!

UF: For everybody that hasn't heard your music before, explain your sound and style to them.
Good all around music that can be played any where from a party to a cook out to just riding around in your car. It puts a smile on your face and makes you out your seat and dance!!


UF: Who are some of your musical influences in the industry?

Eminem, Drake, Lil wayne, Trey songz, Jay-z,


UF: As a new artist, what was the best piece of advice that has been given to you so far?
Just never stop there is always something that you can be doing. Don't get satisfied and always want more!!

UF: I hear that you a writer as well, how did you get started with that?

I was at a event just networking and bumped in to the right person at the right time. We exchanged information and he liked what he heard and gave me a chance!!


UF: I see that you have shared the stage with some big names, what was probably the best experience that you had with performing for a big name?
I was opening up for a big name artist last year and i ended up having a better show then he had. It was a great experience to have at the time to even boost my confidence higher and make he wanna do better!!

UF: I ask this question to every artist, but since it seems like everybody wants to be an artist these days what would be some key advice that you would you give to someone that is looking to start their own buzz?
Hit the internet hard and never stop thats one of the fastest ways he helped me out. There are so many web sites you can put your music on or video for the world to see!!

UF: Since I know there are a lot of artists that are making moves in Delaware, what are you planning to do to separate yourself from all of the other talented artists?
Do what everyone hasn't done yet. Which is take my music and promotion out of Delaware and make it happen in other states. Im just going to never stop and keep going forward no matter what happens or what someone tells me!!


UF: What are some of the other projects that we should be expecting from you in the upcoming future?
My 1st album no title for it yet. A lot of mixtapes and features i will be on. And none stop videos that will be all over the internet!!

UF: With everything in music always changing where do you see yourself in the next five years?
World wide!! the name WHY-IT will be a name that you will know of for a good reason!!

UF: This might be a crazy for a new artist, but when your career is over what do you want to be known for?
Making good all around music for everyone to hear. Music you cant really point a finger at and say something bad about just good music.
