Twitter: The Best and Worst Thing To Ever Happen To Virginia

Aight lets be real a big reason twitter is popular is because it strokes our own egos. Between getting followers, witty remarks, bible verses and twit pics its really our way of saying ”Hey I want to be heard”, “I have something to say “. Having had a account since 2008, before many of you even knew what it was, I've actually had the chance to see Twitter evolve or devolve since becoming the hot new thing in Va. So lets go in for a minute.




Twitter Celebrities/CyberBullies using the term very loosely
These are the guys and girls that are only known because Twitter exists and actually take pride in that. Now there's nothing wrong with that if your only there for entertainment. But what I don't like are people who maliciously try to tear down other people for a laugh. Like, who are you trying to impress? We are all grown here well most of us anyway. We've already seen cases where these social networking sites have been the cause of divorce, depression and suicide. Now I do run across a funny remark here or there, but I don't really get who has the moral ground to put down someone for the sake of a joke or a few followers. People are getting to the point of threats of violence which I find unbelievable. I hope I'm wrong but it sure seems like somebody is going to get effed up behind Twitter in the future behind the sly remarks and that'll be a sad day. I've even saw tweets saying “Twitter is boring now it used to be live” inferring that u genuinely love or encourage the fact of people being ignorant on Twitter. And when it is going on you'll see quite a few people with the “gets popcorn” tweet. Now if u don't know them personally I understand, but someone always knows the parties involved. Why wouldn't you be a good friend and call or text them and tell them to chill or even talk to that person directly. Don't ever underestimate the simplicity of a phone call.

Twitter Emos
These are the people who have a breakdown on Twitter for all the world to see. Now we've all vented on Twitter before we're all guilty. What I'm referring to is the people who do it daily. So you’re never happy huh? Errrthing is bad huh, everyday? Its understandable for people to be upset nowadays we live in a uncertain world with unemployment up, baby daddy/baby mama's and all that. But if its that bad you definitely don't need a Twitter you need a therapist seriously or something productive to do. Some people I follow look really mentally unstable. But I'm not qualified to diagnose it so lets move on...just saying

Twitter Lurkers
Now these are the people who follow you knowing they don't like you and continuously scan your time line and sub-tweet the sh*t out of you or go and spread your business to someone else. I think its funny sometimes, but most times I'm not feeling it. Now I don't know how many people do this to me but when I see it being done to others I think its lame. Speaking of....

** Sub-tweeters **

Every last one of y'all have got to chill eat a McRib with a Four Loko and just relax. All sub-tweeting shows is how much of a coward you are. Sub-tweeters are the worst. They always have something slick to say and never hit that @ button and certainly never say it to your face. Be accountable for your actions and throw a @ symbol at your target. If its a broad or generalize statement I'm not referring to you. You can absolutely tell the difference between a general statement and a personal attack. You gotta chill with the sub-tweets though grow some balls get a life or something. The funny thing is I never really see anyone with a lot of followers sub-tweeting. Sub-tweeting is equivalent to “if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it” quote. You look pretty effing silly. If you got 200 followers and you sub-tweeting you probably got 180 people who don't know who the hell your referring to. You look bitter. You look starved for attention. Just chill and make a sandwich or something

Twitter Artists/Twitter Biz Owners
Some of y'all got a chill. Twitter is absolutely a good platform to promote your music but just like MySpace some artist and biz owners are using it as there only form of promotion. If you haven't met with these Dj's been to these events your absolutely playing around. And whatever happened to artists working. Why are there so many of y'all dissing other rappers. I'm just gonna let you know it does not help your profile at all to take shots at a artists who's buzz is around the same level as yours or lower. It only shows your insecurities as an aspiring artist. I don't want to see that sh*t just work please let the music speak for itself. No weak beefing tweets please. Everybody doesn't have to get along, but some of y'all get so lost on attacking other artists I've completely lost track on how good or bad you are as a artist. You got people on your time line just for the controversy. Bad move, just work ..chill with the beef ..Just Work


Re-tweeters
Now most of the time is this is a harmless form of helping to spread a positive message or observation or even a link to music, video or article. But there are those who feel the need to RT hurtful or derogatory remarks. All this serves to do is shine light or fan the flames on something that shouldn't be encouraged. Why is it funny or witty to spread that type of negativity. I guess a better question would be why two people would be beefin on twitter in the first place. Either way waste of time or energy. And you’re definitely showing your immaturity. You’re making Twitter look like high school everyday and my time line can’t take the tomfoolery

Is it really so hard to stay positive on Twitter. I mean at least stick by the phrase “if you don't have something nice to say”.

Let me also be clear I've never been attacked publicly on Twitter. This is merely a observation of what I see as I log on trying to get some work done. A lot of y'all make Twitter interesting. I love reading what other are doing once in a while. A lot of interesting debates are all thanks to Twitter. Its some networking going on too, definitely not as much as I used to see but I digress. I have a better perspective for who some of you are for good or bad because of it which is definitely a plus.

Now I'm not “the Twitter expert” but I haven't been in one Twitter beef that I know of and I haven't made a habit or a mission to belittle other people for a cheap laugh and still have quite a few people following me.

Just remember be mindful of what your putting out there. Twitter more than anything else completely displays your personality. So your tweeting a lot about sex..perception is you may be easy. You tweet a lot about being balling out of control..well its gotta match up when the streets see you. Its funny how many people have twitter and have so much to say but aren't very social in public. Even more than that the rest of the world can see how we interact with each other here in Virginia. And sorry to say more often than not we probably look crazy to other areas.
