I have just recently had a chance to interview Delaware's own B2dadot. He gave me some insight on how the Delaware market really is. So definitely read this so you can know more about this hot young artist.
For the people who don't know who you are, tell the people your name and where you from?
B2DaDot from Wilmington, Delaware
How did you get started in music?
I started off doing poetry and then I linked up with a producer who started putting my lyrics to beats. So from that point on I just got into the whole rapping thing and left poetry alone. I fell in love with the whole music aspect of wordplay.
For everybody that hasn't heard your music before, explain your sound and style to them.
My style is very witty and fun. I love what I do when it comes to the music so if I’m not having fun with it, then why do it.
How is the hip-hop scene in Delaware?
The hip-hop scene in Delaware is starting to pick back up. People are starting to put egos aside and work together as a whole Delaware Movement
As far as the music scene in Delaware is, who are some artists that people should be on the lookout for?
Shay Star (R&B Singer), E-Luc, Jay City & the whole Street Division, Trigga Trig & the Free Agents Movement, Fred Knuxx, Jet Phynx, Phil Nash, Swish Maddi & the GYG Movement. It’s a lot of talent out here.
Do you feel that smaller states such as Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, etc are getting looked over as far as being the region for the next hip-hop movement? Is so why?
I definitely feel that way about those states because we are so close to
bigger Meccas of hip-hop such as New York and also Philadelphia.
Since the music industry is always changing where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I see myself as being a rising icon in hip hop in the next 5 years. More than just an artist. I want to be a well established producer and CEO of my own Production Company & record label.
Since it seems like everybody wants to be a rapper these days what advice would you give someone that is looking to get into this industry?
Don't trust anyone in this industry. The record business is an industry of give and take. Everyone does not have your best interest at heart. So stay on top of all your paperwork, publishing & money. Keep people around you who have been around u before the fame.
Who are some of your musical influences in the industry?
Musical influences on the rap side of things include Jay-Z, Biggie, Tupac, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, and Joell Ortiz. Musical influences on the production side include Ryan Leslie, The Neptunes, Timbaland, Scott Storch, Alchemist, The Runners, Cool & Dre, Play & Skillz & of course Dr. Dre.
What are some of the projects that you are currently working on now?
Right now I am currently working on my album "Me, Myself & Money" and also the prelude to my album will be my mixtape entitled "Money Hungry"
Who in the industry do you pattern yourself after? If any and why?
I don’t really pattern myself after anyone. I am in my own lane. So people will either love me or hate me.
Since the New Year is right around the corner what are some of your plans for 2010?
If everything goes accordingly my album will be out in the second quarter 2010. So I plan on releasing that and going on tour once it is released.
